Leona Louise Edwards, 89, a resident of Fredonia, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Mernard, Montana, July 6, 1917, to Edwin and Fannie (Nichols) Hale. In 1918 they moved to Kansas, living in the Greenwood County area. She married Richard Rodman in 1937, living in the Tonovay Community, later moving to a farm near Hamilton, Kansas where they raised three children, Wayne, Don & Janet. They later divorced. She later married Hugh Edwards and moved to Fredonia in 1961. He preceded her in death December 22, 1976. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia and Order of Easter Star-Golden Star Chapter of Toronto. Survivors include: Sons & Spouses - Wayne & Pattie Rodman of Grove, OK Don & Judy Rodman of Amarillo, TX Daughter & Spouse - Janet & Dwight Carrington of Kansas City, MO Step-daughter & Spouse- Lavonne & Jerry Woodruff of Wichita, KS Step-daughters- in- law - Virginia Edwards of Wichita, KS Mary Kay Edwards of Liberty, MO 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren 12 Step-Grandchildren, 19 Step Great Grandchildren 4 Step Great-Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Andrew Denner; brother, Maurice Hale; twin sister, Lenora Bane; sister, Pauline Kennedy; husbands, Richard and Hugh; step-sons, Hubert & Fred Edwards; step-daughter, Reva Smith; step-granddaughter, Denise Smith; twin great-grandsons, Nathan & Lance Carrington. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia with Pastor Charlotte Coates officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 P M in the Eureka, Kansas Cemetery. Friends may call at the Timmons Funeral Home on Sunday, July 8, 2007, from 2:00 P.M. " 4:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends 2:00 P.M. " 3:00 P. M. Memorials have been established in her name with the First United Methodist Church and Harry Hynes Hospice and may be sent to the funeral home.
