Lawrence Lee Shultz, 94, a resident of Chanute, Kansas, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute. He was born June 26, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Lea Roy and Tilda Mae (Moler) Shultz. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On June 26, 1937 in Fredonia, Kansas, he married Louise Baughn. She preceded him in death September 10, 1991. Lawrence worked at various occupations throughout his life including dealing in scrap iron and as a security guard. His survivors include: Seven children: Shelia Morgan of Braman, OK Mary Joan Schoonover of Braman, OK Larry D. (Phyllis) Shultz of Winfield, KS Marvin L. (Shirley) Shultz of Cedarvale, KS Randal B. (Pauline) Shultz of Winfield, KS Albert L. (Nora) Shultz of Braman, OK Debbie K. Tallman of Wellington, KS Four siblings: Butch Shultz of Independence, MO Ila Smith of El Paso, TX Sylvia Petty of Chanute, KS Tiny Black of Naperville, IL Twenty-one grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Seven brothers, four sisters, one grandson, and one great grandson preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Maple Grove Cemetery near Roper with Pastor Tom Eastman of the Chanute Christian Church officiating.
