Kim (Edgerle) King, passed away at the age of 58.
Kim was born November 18, 1961 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Gary and Phyllis Edgerle. She grew up in Tyro, Kansas and Jefferson, Kansas.
While in Jefferson she enjoyed riding her horse Charlie Brown. Soon she moved to Cherryvale to help her parents operate the King Drive-In and a couple of motels.
Kim graduated from Independence High School. She later managed and then owned and operated the King Drive-In for several years. During this time, she was united in marriage to Robert King in 1981. Together in 1988 they welcomed their daughter Kari King to the world.
Kim was a stay at home mother until school started for Kari when she became a cook at Lincoln Central Elementary School in Cherryvale. She really enjoyed the children and continued for many years.
She was a great cook. She loved cooking, gardening, shopping, horses, frogs, birds, sunflowers, dogs and cats. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Kim also liked Rock and Roll music and appreciated a few cold Coors Lights.
She adored her little dog named Buffy.
After Kim turned around 50, she was forced to quit working when she showed early signs of dementia. Unfortunately, the disease progressed and finally won on May 7, 2020. Kim passed away peacefully listening to Tom Petty, on a full moon night.
Private services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances are suggested to local hospices or Dementia Society of America and they may be left or mailed to: Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
