Kenneth L. “Kenny” Streets, 84, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Morningstar Care Facility in Fredonia.
Kenneth Lowell Streets was born on August 9, 1939, in rural Altoona, Kansas to Reed and Doris (Busby) Streets. Kenny attended and graduated from Altoona High School in 1957. He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics in 1961. In 1968 he graduated from Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin.
On August 28, 1960, in Scott City, Kansas, Kenny was united in marriage to Marilyn I. Miller, to this union were born two sons, Brad and Jeff. Marilyn preceded him in death on October 7, 2019. Brad preceded him in death on December 21, 2021.
Kenny worked at State Bank of Fredonia for 35 years. He held titles of officer trainee, bookkeeper, teller, cashier, Vice President, Senior Vice President and served on the Bank Board.
He enjoyed taking care of his lawn, trees, shrubs, South Mound Park, conservation projects on the Streets’s farms, singing in the church choir, volunteering at the Hive and various charities through the years.
Kenny was a very active man in the community and was dearly loved by young and old alike. He was involved in many organizations and continued to serve faithfully in all of them. He was a member of the Fredonia First United Methodist Church, Fredonia Area Chamber of Commerce and Fredonia Regional Hospital Board. Kenny was a 60-year Lions Club member who made beautification of the South Mound one of his life’s missions. The club was excited to share in the reveal of a very special sculpture, Eternal Roses, on the South Mound. The sculpture is 13 feet tall and contains 6 roses, one for each decade of Kenny’s service.
Kenny is survived by son; Jeffrey Streets of Cypress, Texas, Daughter-in-law; Laurie Streets of Topeka, Kansas, Brother; Richard Streets of Slidell, Louisianna, grandchildren; Afton, Kendra, Amanda, Garrett, Colin, Adam, Kendall and 9 Great-Grand Children and a community that loved him dearly.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Doris and son, Bradley.
Celebration of Life Services will be held, 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Fredonia First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 18, 2023, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas.
Burial will follow services at Altoona Cemetery.
