Keith Leroy Sissom, 92, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Marquette, Michigan, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He and his twin brother, Kenneth, were born April 25, 1923 in rural Fredonia, the sons of Kent A. and Katie May (Shandrow) Sissom. Keith served in the United States Army, 25th Infantry, 1943-1946, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a cowboy by trade, working on various ranches for many years. On December 23, 1982 in Marquette, Michigan, he was united in marriage to Carol R. Walker. She preceded him in death February 19, 2003. Keith was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting arrowheads. His family remembers him as being very ornery. His survivors include: Stepson: David Walker of Las Vegas, NV Sister: Ella Odell of Fredonia, KS 3 step-grandchildren Many nieces and nephews He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Don, Kent, Kenneth and Leland Sissom and sisters, Mary Sissom and Sylvia Glover. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 26, 2016 at Weakley Cemetery near New Albany, KS, with Mike Jeffers and Carl Thornton officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Keith"s name to Fredonia Avenue of Flags.
