Kay Frances (Bain) Davis 80, passed away on August 3, 2023, in Joplin Missouri. She was born on September 28, 1942, in Humboldt, Kansas to parents, Frank Delbert and Glanetta Bernice (Wilhite) Bain.
Kay is survived by her brother David C Bain, sister Ann Bain-Bevins, great nieces Kasey and Randi, great-great nieces Natalie, Avery, and Margaret, great-great nephew James, many cousins, childhood friends, and her Texas friends Melvin and Janiece Bloch. She was preceded in death by her parents, her half-brother Jack Byers, and niece Darci Lynne Harding.
Kay was a graduate of Humboldt High School, class of 1960. She furthered her education at Chanute Junior College. In 1962 she moved to Texas to marry her high school sweetheart. There she attended Amarillo Junior College taking business classes. After nearly 20 years of working in the banking industry, Kay pursued her lifelong dream of working at the City of Amarillo Library, where she retired in 2006. She enjoyed working the book sales at the library and often delivered books to housebound patrons. In 2017, Kay moved to Missouri to be closer to her family.
Kay had a passion for reading that was only matched by her love of cats and dancing. She spent countless hours immersed in books, finding solace and adventure within their pages. Her love for feline companions was evident in her home, where she provided a safe and loving environment for her beloved cats. Kay's enthusiasm for dancing brought joy to her life and those around her.
Kay's warm and caring nature endeared her to her family and friends. Her Texas family, who attended Sunday lunches at the Bloch's home will always remember her presence and cherish the memories they shared. Kay's kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held September 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Mt Hope Cemetery in Humboldt Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humboldt Animal Shelter in Kay’s honor.
