Judith Dean Sondree, 57, a resident of Fremont, California and formerly of Fredonia, Kansas, died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at her home in Fremont. She was born May 13, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Owen Neal and Wilma (Wells) Smith. She was a 1966 graduate of Fredonia High School and attended Emporia State University. She was the vice president of escrow operations at New Century Title Company for the past 37 years. On February 14, 1987 in Castro Valley, California, she married Jerry Sondree. He survives at their home. She was a member of the Fall River United Methodist Church. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening and sewing. Survivors in addition to her husband, Jerry, include: Her parents, Owen Neal & Wilma Smith of Fredonia, KS; Two daughters, Jessica Groves of Klamath Falls, OR; Jaime Jones of Calistoga, CA; Two step sons, Daniel Sondree of Springfield, MO; Kevin Sondree of St. Louis, MO; One step daughter, Melissa Doyle of Nixa, MO; One brother & sister-in-law, Randy & Sandy Smith of Fredonia, KS; One grandchild, Mazelyn Jones; Four step grandchildren, Jasmine Sondree, Jade Sondree, Christopher Doyle, Caleb Doyle She was preceded in death by one brother, Owen Steven Smith in 1995. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlotte Coates of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in her name with Avon Walk For Breast Cancer and may be sent to the funeral home.
