Joyce Jolene Buck, 76, returned to her heavenly home on May 16, 2018 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Joyce was born to the late Roy and Gertrude Jones in Cherryvale, KS on December 5, 1941. She attended Cherryvale schools and worked in a variety of occupations until she found her calling as an RN. In 1984, against all odds, Joyce graduated from the Mary Grimes School of Nursing, Neosho Community College. She was proud to call Coffeyville Regional Medical Center her work home as she cared for patients for 18 years as an LPN and then later as an RN. In 1987 she was awarded the Dr. Frist Humanitarian Award, an award reserved for those who demonstrate commitment and dedication to providing outstanding patient care and humanitarianism. She retired in 1988 due to a work injury, but was always the person her family called when medical needs arose.
Joyce was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Raymond J. Buck, on August 28, 1964 in Dallas, TX. Together they raised their five children and were second parents to countless other nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is now at peace.
Joyce is survived by her husband of the home, her children, William Buck (Cindy) of Rutherfordton, NC; Victor Buck (Pam) of Cherryvale, KS; Marty Buck (Shannon) of Salina, KS; Jana Buck of Wichita, KS; Marion Ray Buck (Patsy) of Mabank, TX; Shelley Gullick of Wichita, KS and Rhonda Jewett of Cherryvale, KS; her grandchildren Orlando Buck, Jeryl Buck, Kari Buck, Joslyn Allison, Clayton Buck, Josh Goodwin, Becky Goodwin, Mindy Buck, Danielle Scrivner, Mandy Koon, Hannah Kuhlman, Matthew Gloss, Madisyn Buck, Jordon Gullick, Taylor Gullick, Trevor Jones-Boyd, Kayla Boyd and numerous great grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.
