Josephine Flemming was born in 1921 to immigrant parents, Guadalupe and Eufemia Gonzalez, and grew up in a poor environment, with hard work, discipline, and Catholic faith sculpting her life. Jo carried the ethic of discipline, love of God, and belief of the critical importance of a good education, into raising her family. That foundation worked it’s magic into creating 3 successful children. She once told her youngest that her greatest joy was to see the success of her children’s lives. Carmen was a nurse, Steve a teacher, and Ricardo a musician and police officer, all in professions that positively affected many lives.
What Jo loved most was painting. Her artistic talent enabled her to view a picture and transform it onto a blank canvas by the mere stroke of her hand. She loved the quiet solitude that came with her talent so she immersed herself into her private world of painting.
Josephine’s legacy lives in the success and faith of her children and her children’s children.
