Johnnie Gray, 81, a longtime resident of Coyville, Kansas, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas. She was born May 5, 1928 in Idabel, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alfred and Myrtle (Phillips) Gurley. She was a homemaker and worked part-time for the Coyville Post Office. On November 12, 1965 in Spearman, Texas, she married Floyd Gray. He survives at their home. Johnnie and Floyd moved to the Coyville area from Perryton, Texas. Throughout the years, she was very active with the Fredonia VFW and served as secretary to the Eagles and Rural Water District #11. Johnnie"s survivors include: Nine children & spouses: Ray and Bonnie Sims of Rio Rancho, NM Linda and Joe T. Venneman of Spearman, TX Charles Sims of Wister, OK Mike and April Sims of Aurora, CO Danny and Judy Sims of Fredonia, KS Shannon Blackwell of Globe, AZ Dennie and Ronny Haynes of Pampa, TX Lorraine Nix-Marr of Fredonia, KS Butch Gray of Globe, AZ 19 Grandchildren and 38 Great Grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; one brother; three grandsons; and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Timmons Funeral Home with Rev. Les Miller of the Fredonia Church of Christ officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in Johnnie"s name with the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. Family condolences may be left on this website.
