John Olen Williams, 83, of Chanute, passed away peacefully at his home on April 13, 2025. Born on January 8, 1942, in Harper, Missouri. John lived a fulfilling life marked by both hard work and deep connections with his children.
In 1970, John and his family moved to Chanute, Kansas, where he became a prominent figure in the community. Upon arriving in Chanute, he took on the role of manager at QuikTrip, showcasing his strong work ethic and dedication. Eventually, John co-owned Galt Pest Control, further solidifying his commitment to his profession and the community. After that, he moved to Junction City, where he was involved in security and groundskeeping at Geary Community Hospital for 25 years. Later, John’s health began to fail, so he moved back to Chanute to live with his daughter Jonnet, knowing he would be loved and taken care of.
John was known for his friendly demeanor and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He was always there to listen and provide comfort to those in need. He held a special place in the hearts of his children, particularly his daughter Jonnet, who took on the responsibility of caring for him for the last 11 years. The everyday talks, shared laughs, and quiet moments together reflecting on the good old days will be greatly missed.
Throughout his life, John had a passion for training horses and enjoyed watching westerns. He also cherished the companionship of his little doggie, Mazie, which brought him joy and comfort.
He is survived by his beloved son, Greg (Celeste) Williams of West Plains, Missouri; his daughter and devoted caretaker, Jonnet (Jerry Horn) Williams; his grandchildren, Gideon, Sarah, Rachel, Gabriel, Hannah, Gavin, Graham, Joel, Alissa, and Deanna; and his great-grandchildren, Bentlee, Laramie, Emoree, Saunder, Sadie, Lainey, Gibson, Weston, Emerald, and Everly. John was the oldest of 12 siblings, a testament to his deep family roots.
John's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he shared with his family. His kindness, generosity, and love will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him.

Cremation has been requested.
