Joe Dean Lucke, a self-employed mechanic who dearly cherished horses, and boats, working on engines, muscle cars, music, and dancing, passed away on June 14, 2024, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born to Howard and Edna (McGowan) Lucke on March 10, 1951, in Chanute, Kansas.
Joe was united in marriage to Joyce Cramer on July 4, 1992, at Big Hill Lake.
In his lifetime, Joe touched the hearts of many with his passion for fixing engines and his love for life's simple pleasures. His skills as a mechanic were unmatched, earning him respect and admiration from all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Joyce of Chanute, Kansas; his two daughters Sheryl (Shery) Wheatley of Chanute, Kansas, Shelie McKelvey of Delano Tennessee, and Joseph Lucke of Chanute, Kansas; his siblings Dorles (Ike) Edwards of Parsons, Kansas, Jack Lucke of Buffalo, Kansas, and Jerry Lucke of Mulberry, Kansas. Joe also leaves behind two grandchildren: Matthew Thomas and Mikayla Kennedy; as well as one great-grandchild Juniper Jean (JJ) Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Edna Lucke; his brothers Jim and John Lucke; sisters Dorothy (Dee) Haviland, Mary Sampson, Virginia Lucke, and Patsy Lucke; and a granddaughter Reece Kennedy.
Joe Dean Lucke will be remembered for his hard work ethic as a mechanic and for the joy he brought to those around him through his hobbies. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held Friday, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Wickham Family Funeral Home 500 North Forest Ave Chanute, Kansas 66720, followed by a time of memory sharing at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery, rural Chanute,
