Jason Dean Claibourn, 36, a resident of Coyville, Kansas, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield, Kansas. He was born October 7, 1974 in Fredonia, Kansas, the son of Samuel and Brenda (Lour) Claibourn. He attended grade school in Fredonia and Neodesha; middle school in Independence and Neodesha; and high school in Neodesha and Yates Center, where he was graduated in 1993. During his secondary school years, Jason was a member of the football team and active in FFA. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, driving Chevy trucks, and anything that meant spending time with his daughter, Skyler. Jason was a welder and pipefitter by trade, currently employed by B.C. Steel in Yates Center, Kansas. Survivors, in addition to his wife common-law wife, Amanda DeWeese, include: His mother: Brenda Ellis of Coffeyville, KS His father: Sam Claibourn of Fredonia, KS His daughter: Skyler Ann Claibourn of Yates Center, KS His grandmothers: Anna Lour of Neodesha, KS Nellie Claibourn of Fredonia, KS One brother: Jarrod Claibourn of Coyville, KS One sister: Amy Jacot of South Coffeyville, OK One stepsister: Kimberly Ellis of Independence, KS Amanda"s children: Chandler, Tyler, Justin & Emerald of Coyville, KS Two grandfathers, Jim Lour and Buddy Claibourn preceded Jason in death. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Cornerstone Christian Church with Pastor Mike Hughes officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Claibourn Educational Fund and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.
