Janet Sue Paulsen

June 19, 1940 — January 1, 2021

Janet Sue Paulsen, age 80, died January 1st, 2021 in Topeka, Kansas following a brief illness. She was born in Neodesha, Kansas, and was raised in Fredonia, Kansas. She was the daughter of Hurston and Helen (Fink) Hedrick. Janet was a graduate of the Fredonia High School, Class of 1958, and received a Bachelor's Degree of Education from Kansas State College of Pittsburg in 1962. She a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, Beta Sigma Pi, and a member of Goodland's First United Methodist Church.
Janet was married to James (Jim) Paulsen on March 25th, 1961 at the Fredonia Methodist Church. She was employed as a pre-school teacher in Goodland, Kansas until her retirement in 2003. Janet greatly enjoyed her work with the children and was loved by her students. She enjoyed playing bridge, picnicking, having coffee with friends, visiting the Prairie Band Casino and Resort, being with her children and grandson, and watching the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs football teams.
Janet briefly survived her husband, Jim, who passed away on December 31, 2020. Surviving family members include: her daughter, Jodi Paulsen, of Willow Springs, Missouri; her grandson, Shayne Paulsen, of West Plains, Missouri; and, her brother, Terry Hedrick, of Palm Coast, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her son, John Mark Paulsen, who passed away in 2013.
Due to COVID-19 protocols, a private memorial service will be held at a later date in Fredonia, Kansas. Memorial donations should be made to a charity of one's choice.
