James (Jim) I. Bjork, 76, retired Beech Aircraft Tool Liaison Supervisor and Korean War Veteran, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at his home at Fall River Lake, Fall River, Kansas. He was born February 11, 1930 in Minneola, Kansas, the son of Harold Irwin and Grace (Hougland) Bjork. He was a graduate of Tribune High School and served with the 2nd Army Division during the Korean War. On March 15, 1953 he married Georgia (Peggy) L. Rose of Virgil, Kansas. She survives at their lake home. Jim and Peggy resided in Wichita during his 40 years with Beech Aircraft. Beginning in 1969, weekends were spent at their Fall River Lake home until his retirement, when Fall River Lake became their permanent home. Jim was an active member of the Fall River Christian Church and loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and enjoyed most outdoor sports. He worked part-time at Flint Oak during hunting season. Having children and grandchildren spread throughout the United States and overseas, Jim loved the opportunity to travel and visit with family and friends. Survivors, in addition to his wife Peggy include two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis A. and Melissa Bjork of New Castle, CO; Craig A. and Leigh Ann Bjork of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Jeremiah & Eric Bjork of New Castle, CO; Tanya and Katrina Bjork of Carlsbad, CA; one brother, Gerald (Jerry) L. Bjork of Aurora, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack V. Bjork; and one sister, Jane R. Kiser. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Fall River Christian Church with Pastor Chuck McCrea officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Fall River Christian Church or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and can be sent to the funeral home.
