James J. "Jim" McAdams, 90, a lifetime resident of Buffalo, Kansas, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at Harry Hynes Inpatient Hospice at Via Christi-St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. He was born February 11, 1925 in Buffalo to James Bruce and Lillie Evelyn (Carlburg) McAdams. Jim attended school in Buffalo, Banner and Benedict. He served in the United States Navy as a motor machinest on the U.S.S. John J. Powers, 1943-1945. Jim was a truck driver for more than 40 years, working for Acme Brick Company, Lusco and Sisters of Mercy, retiring in 1986. On December 16, 1960 in Buffalo, Jim was united in marriage to Eloyce A. Bishop. She preceded him in death April 22, 1998. Jim was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. His survivors include: One daughter: Beverly (Randy) Ruse of Humboldt, KS Four grandchildren: Eric Weston of Kansas City, MO Danika Weston Matters of Kansas City, MO Adam (Tanya) Weston of Topeka, KS Ashlee Ruse Cummings of Neodesha, KS Four great grandchildren: Tara Matters, Raylee Cummings, Bradyn and Addyson Weston. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Nola Weston, Fred Weston and Bill Weston; brother, Charles McAdams; and sister Helen Huffman. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Buffalo Cemetery with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Jim"s name with Fredonia Regional Health Care Foundation and contributions can be sent to or left at the funeral home.
