Rogers, 77, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away at 3:21 A.M., Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas.James Franklin Rogers was born November 7, 1938 in Cherryvale, Kansas the son of Lawrence Raymond Rogers and Virginia Martha (Veeder) Rogers. He grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School.On October 11, 1962 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Ruby Ward and she preceded him in death January 23, 2013.Jim worked for the cement plant in Independence as an electrician from 1962 until he retired in 1992. He was also involved in the oil industry for many years.Jim"s last employment was driving the school bus for USD #447 for 16 years taking kids to and from school and to various school sponsored activities. He loved driving the bus and loved being around the kids. Jim had a big heart for under privileged kids and would try to encourage and inspire the children he was around.He loved watching football especially the Cherryvale Chargers and Coffeyville Red Ravens. He loved his family and friends. Jim will be remembered for being a good father, grandfather and friend.Jim was member of the New Hope Christian Church and Cherryvale Booster Club for many years.Survivors include his children, Jammy Froebe and her husband Rod of Neodesha, Kansas, Rhonda Rohr of Altoona, Kansas, Mike Rogers and his wife Janet of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jennifer Culbertson and husband Ted of Lawrence, Kansas, sister, Mary Ann Birdsong and husband Steve of Cherryvale, Kansas, grandchildren, Chris Webber and his wife Angi of Independence, Kansas, Brett Rogers of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mason Froebe and his wife Jessa of Overland Park, Kansas, Brandon Rogers and his wife Krissy of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Brooke and Bailey Culbertson of Lawrence, Kansas and great granddaughter, Karson Webber of Independence, Kansas.He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Rogers and a sister Jean Reisch.Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas.The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the funeral home.Interment will be held immediately following services in Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kansas.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Cherryvale Football Boosters and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
