James Irwin Millar, “Jim,” 84, a resident of Wilson County, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Neodesha, Kansas.
Jim, known as “Buzz,” to his family and friends, was born on June 6, 1935, to William C. and Eva (Harris) Millar. He grew up in Wilson County and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1953.
He married Norma Tehee, they were later divorced.
Jim was a construction worker in Wichita, Kansas, worked for Jerry Fink as a carpenter, was a State Grain Inspector and a self-employed mechanic.
Jim enjoyed Nascar car racing, mechanic work and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He raced cars in Caney, Yates Center, Humboldt and Bartlesville. Jim was a member of the Masons.
Jim is survived by his partner, Elizabeth Armstrong, his children; Sherri Barnes, Karen Oliver, James D. Millar and David Armstrong of Fredonia Kansas, brothers; William Millar of New Albany, Kansas, John Millar of New Albany, Kansas, Dan Millar of rural Fredonia, Kansas, sister; Katrine Millar of New Albany, Kansas and eight grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Edward Millar, sisters, Carol Voth and June Miller, infant sister, Rosemary and aunt, Elizabeth Millar.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Fredonia City Cemetery.
