Isa Mae Fraser, 95, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away December 7, 2020 at Cherryvale, Nursing and Rehab Center. Isa Mae, the 5th of 13 children, was born near Girdner, Missouri on March 28, 1925 to John and Lydia (Plumb) Matney. She lost her mom at 15 but was still able to complete her 8th grade education. She lost her father when she was 22 and she and her husband raised her younger siblings, Mable & Tillie.
Isa Mae was united in marriage to Harley Junior Fraser on January 30, 1943 in Kinsley, Kansas. They were married for 43 years until his death on April 7, 1986.
She was a mother, housewife and owner and operator of Fraser Liquor Store for 41 years.
Isa Mae loved being with family and friends, doing embroidery work, going to Country & Western shows, playing dominos and bingo. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love of family and friends and being there for all as a mother and friend.
Isa Mae was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Fredonia, Kansas, Auxiliary 3592 and served as Madam President of such from 1991-1992. She was also a member of the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary for the Fredonia 3018 V.F.W. for many years.
Isa Mae is survived by her son, John Fraser, Fredonia, Kansas ( fiancé Patti Walter), Coffeyville, Kansas, Sisters; Elouise Denney, Wichita, Kansas, Mable Powell, Independence, Kansas, Grandchildren; Julie Schneider, Patricia Scott and Chris (Tara) Fraser and Great-Grandchildren; Braden Harvey, Emily Smith, Taylor Scott and Liam Scott.
In addition to her husband, Harley, Isa Mae was preceded in death by her daughter, Mitzi J. Fraser, daughter-in-law, Barbara Fraser and siblings; Eddie, Elma, Elza, Chester, Joe, Lester, Donnie, Jimmy, Arteala and infant girl.
Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas 66736. Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time. Graveside services will be at Fredonia Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
