Imogene Marie Mcnown

Imogene Marie McNown, 94, passed away November 5, 2022, at Independence, KS. She was born on June 9, 1928, in Fredonia, KS, to Elmer O. Morgan and Gladys Pearl Leedy. Imogene was born a twin; her twin sister Ermagene Smith survives.

Imogene was a 1946 graduate of Fredonia High School, Fredonia, KS.

On November 12, 1949, she married Russell Earl McNown in Fredonia, KS. They made Sedan, KS their home. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1996.

She retired from the business office of Sedan Floral after 31 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Sedan and Sedan’s Pandora Study Club.

Imogene enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family.

Imogene is survived by, her twin sister Ermagene Smith of Topeka, KS; her children, Linda (Leland) Shire of Fredonia, KS, Johnnie (Linda) McNown of Sedan, KS, and Jimmie (Debbie) McNown of Waxahachie, TX; her nephew Marvin Smith; grandchildren, Kevin Shire, Sherri Barnes, DeWayne McNown, Marisha Fields, Aaron McNown and Tyler McNown; and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Fredonia City Cemetery, Fredonia, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Christian Church of Fredonia, in care of Wickham Family Funeral Home.
