Helen Virginia (Fink) Hedrick, 98, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born August 23, 1914 in Lafontaine, Kansas, the daughter of Alonzo and Mina (Bobbitt) Fink. Helen was a graduate of Lafontaine High School and Fredonia Business School. On April 5, 1936, in Lafontaine, she was united in marriage to Hurston Hedrick. He preceded her in death September 20, 1995. Helen was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and served 80+ funeral dinners throughout the years. She was also a member of the 1910 Club and volunteered with the Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Meals-On-Wheels. She was the recipient of the Joan Bayles Award through the Fredonia Arts Council and she and Hurston were Grand Marshall"s for the Fredonia Homecoming celebration. Helen is survived by: One daughter Janet & Jim Paulsen of Goodland, KS One son Terry & Martha Hedrick of Palm Coast, FL Four grandchildren John Mark Paulsen of St. Louis, MO Jodi Paulsen of Willow Springs, MO Emily Clark of North Woodstock, NH Ryan Hedrick of Washington, NC Four great grandchildren Shayne Paulsen Jillian Clark Kaitlin Clark Hayden Hedrick Her parents, Alonzo and Mina Fink; her sister, Lois Spohn; and her brother, Austin Fink, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Charlotte Coates officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery.
