Helen Lorraine Wadel, 80, a longtime resident of rural Fredonia, Kansas, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas. She was born May 18, 1929 in Montezuma, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse and Minnie (Ratzlaff) Jantz. She was a homemaker. On January 18, 1953 in Fredonia, Kansas, she married Dennis Wadel. He survives at their home. Helen was a member of the Church of God in Christ-Mennonite. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Dennis, include: One son: Glenn Wadel of Fredonia, KS One daughter: Joyce Koehn of Victoria, TX One son-in-law: Pat Nichols of El Campo, TX Three brothers: Jesse Jantz of Hesston, KS Vernon Jantz of Fredonia, KS Harold Jantz of Neodesha, KS Five sisters: Lillian Johnson of Moundridge, KS Luella Ratzlaff of Moundridge, KS Twila Schmidt of Brooksville, MS LaVerda Boehs of Lakin, KS Marilyn Schmidt of Galva, KS Eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Sheryl Kay Wadel; one son, Verle Wadel and one adult daughter, Marsha Nichols. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Church of God in Christ-Mennonite, south of Fredonia. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Wednesday, 4:00 P.M.-5:30 P.M. and at the church 6:30 P.M.-7:30 P.M. A memorial has been established in Helen"s name with the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, and may be left in care of the funeral home. Family condolences may be left on this website.
