Helen Francis Hastings

Helen Francis Hastings, 93, a sixty-two year resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born October 30, 1914 in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Walter W. and Opal K. (Thomson) Spendiff. She was a graduate of Parsons High School. In November of 1935, she married Glen Franklin Hastings. She and Glen operated Hasting"s Meat Market at Self Service Grocery Store for many years. Glen preceded her in death March 22, 1992. Helen was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia, 1910 Club, and was a very active part of the Christian Thrift Shop. Her Survivors include: Two Sons: Arlen W. Hastings of Lubbock, TX Larry W. Hastings of Overland Park, KS One Daughter: Sharon J. Wright of Manhattan, KS Ten Grandchildren; Fifteen Great Grandchildren; and Three Great-Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Neil Spendiff. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M. on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Brodbeck of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Memorials have been established in her name with the American Cancer Society and the First Christian Church and may be sent to the funeral home.
