Harland Earl Beebe

Harland Earl Beebe, 92, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of the Iola and Geneva area, died Monday, February 12, 2007, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born March 8, 1914 in rural Ellsworth County, Kansas, the son of Ernest W. and Bell (Alcorn) Beebe. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He lived and farmed most of his life in the Iola and Geneva area and owned a salvage yard in Iola. Later in life he worked for a short time, updateing rural maps and directories. On October 2, 1941 in Ellsworth, Kansas, he married Cornelia Black. She preceded him in death March 23, 1953. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed attending dances in the area. His survivors include: One daughter: Fern Sloan of Tallahassee, Florida Two sons: Buddy Beebe of Forrest, Mississippi Kent Beebe of Kanopolis, Kansas Four step-sons: Martin Canfield of Iola, Kansas Steve Canfield of Crawfordville, Florida Ron Canfield of Northeast, Maryland Rick Hudson of Salsbury, North Carolina Best friend & companion: Wilma Condit of Fredonia, Kansas One sister: Cleora Mabie of Park City, Kansas 13 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild He was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Beebe and one granddaughter, Tonya Beebe. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 16, 2007, at Buckeye Cemetery, near Kanopolis, Kansas, with Rev. Stephen Holmes of the Kanopolis United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at Timmons Funeral Home on Thursday, 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in his name with the Crawfordville United Methodist Church and may be sent to the funeral home.
