Guy "Lewis" Kidd
Lewie was born Oct. 19, 1943 in Independence, KS to Thelma Mangan and Kenneth Kidd.
He attended Holy Name and St Francis grade schools and Neodesha High School where he graduated a proud Bluestreak in 1961. He was an outstanding athlete who lettered in all sports. He was proud and grateful to know that his passion for sports had been passed on to all three of his grandchildren. Interestingly, Lew played quarterback for the Neodesha Bluestreak and his grandson, Joshua, now plays center for the Cony Rams. What a combo! After a brief time at Independence Community College, Lew left school and traveled to California where he met and fell in love with Janis Fogo who became his wife on Jan. 19, 1963 at St Anthony’s Church in Long Beach, CA. Lew worked as a lineman for many years for the Southern California Edison. Kevin, a son, was born to them on Feb 28, 1964 Kevin Kidd. In 1976, Lew moved his family to Tennessee where he worked as an electrician and an elevator/crane inspector for TVA. He retired in 2003 to the Kidd family farm in Cherryvale, KS, where he had many happy childhood memories.
Anyone that knew Lew was well aware that he loved in this order: God, family, Notre Dame and shooting a good game of pool with his buddies.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and attended church at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale.
Preceding Lew was his mother Thelma Krueger, father Kenneth Kidd, sister, Teresa Kidd and stepdad, Steve Krueger.
Lew is survived by his wife, Janis, at their home; son, Kevin, daughter-in-law, Lynn Kidd, and grandchildren David, Joshua and Hannah Kidd of Augusta, ME; two sisters, Brenda Lawrence of Overland Park, KS, Ruth Ann Krueger of Tuscaloosa, AL; two brothers Michael “Woody” Krueger of Tuscaloosa, AL and Steve Krueger of Huntsville, AL, and stepmother, Bonnie Kidd of Overland Park, KS.
Memorials can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital and AWOL of Independence, KS.
