Gustav Paras Engstrom, 91, longtime resident of the Wilson County area, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. He was born August 31, 1916 in Coyville, Kansas, the son of Ludwig and Anna (Burt) Engstrom. Gustav was a graduate of Coyville High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked several years as an aircraft inspector for Boeing in Wichita. On October 15, 1942 in Tucson, Arizona, he married Betty Jean Tarter. She preceded him in death May 13, 2002. Gus was a member of the Church of Christ in Fredonia. His lifelong goal was to work his heart out to provide for his family. His survivors include: Four Sons: Ronald Engstrom of Hutchinson, KS Bud Engstrom of Tulsa, OK Donald Engstrom of Hoisington, KS Rex Engstrom of Pittsburg, KS One Daughter: Ann Stillings of Bloomfield Hills, MI 14 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and one great granddaughter, Destiny. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Fredonia City Cemetery with Rev. Les Miller of the Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, at Timmons Funeral Home from Noon until 6:00 P.M. Family condolences may be left on this website.
