Glenna (Fairchild) Kuhn was born on August 12, 1928, and peacefully passed away on December 9, 2024. She was born to Leo and Anna (Dryden) Fairchild. She grew up on a farm Northwest of Earlton, Kansas.
Glenna attended Summit Hill Grade School and graduated from Chanute High School in 1946. She then continued her education at Neosho County Community College and was a teacher at Ward School in Wilson County for two years.
She was a Pleasant Valley Baptist Church member when she sang in a Quartet with Kent Reece, Dean McLaren, and Louise Triegreen. They sang in many churches in and around the Chanute and Humboldt areas.
Glenna worked at Mungers Ready to Wear in Chanute and Humboldt from 1948 until 1951. Glenna was united in marriage to Kenneth (Kenny) Kuhn on February 12, 1951. Following their marriage, they opened K-K Electric. Glenna was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chanute, where she taught Sunday School. Glenna and Kenny sponsored the Youth Group for several years. She served on many boards in the church. Kenny and Glenna loved to watch the K-K Electric softball team and rarely missed a game.
She is survived by her son, Kim Kuhn, and his wife, Shelly, and her daughter, Pam Rutledge. Her beloved grandchildren: Kody Kuhn and wife Lauren, Darci Blea (Gilbert), Chelsey Walls) Cornell, and eleven great-grandchildren; Kannon and Kase Kuhn, Kielynn, Keston, Keni Pearl, Kian and Korbynn Blea, Treyson, Arayah, Camden, and Dax Walls.
Glenna was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (Kenny) Kuhn, brothers, Bill Fairchild, Dale Fairchild, and Richard Fairchild, a sister, Eleanor Umbarger, and her husband, Gerald, a nephew, Phillip Umbarger, a great-granddaughter, Aevri Kuhn, and a great-grandson, Drake Walls.
Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or the First Baptist Church and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Good News Center, Chanute, Kansas. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Services are under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, Kansas.
