Glenadean Harriet Stomp, 104, passed away on July 2, 2024, in the town she called home Cherryvale, Kansas.
Born on May 30, 1920, to Alma (Stockton) Cunningham and Glen Cunningham in Cherryvale, she was a beloved member of the community. She grew up in Cherryvale and attended Cherryvale schools.
She was united in marriage to Harry Austin in Carthage, Missouri in 1940 and he preceded her in death in September 19, 1974. She later married Robert Stomp in 1977 in Cherryvale, Kansas and he preceded her in death July 8, 2000.
She worked as a telephone operator in Cherryvale, Kansas, as well as at the local grocery store and Cherryvale Elks Club. Her commitment to her work touched the lives of many.
Outside of work, Glenadean found joy in various hobbies and interests including fishing, spending time with her family, reupholstering furniture, cooking delicious meals, and creating beautiful liquid embroidery pieces. Her creativity and warmth extended to all aspects of her life.
Glenadean's memory will be cherished by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her son David Austin and his wife Linda of Cherryvale, Kansas; her daughter Dana Boyd and her husband Bruce of Overbrook, Kansas; her daughter Dianna Conner and her husband John of Cherryvale, Kansas; stepdaughter Paulette Anderson and her husband Dell of Blue Springs, Missouri; brother Harry Cunningham of Cherryvale, Kansas; along with 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother Alma Cunningham, father Glen Cunningham, husbands Harry Austin and Robert Stomp, granddaughter Allisyn Brewster, two brothers, two sisters, and stepson Robert "Skip" Stomp.
A gathering to honor Glenadean's life will take place on Friday, July 19, 2024, beginning with a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Southern Baptist Church, 717 East 6th, in Cherryvale. Then the Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM, that same day at the First Southern Baptist Church.
