Gary Lee Duckworth
Gary Lee Duckworth, 81, of rural Fredonia, died peacefully February 9, 2023, at Morning Star Assisted Living Facility. He was born July 13, 1941 to T.A. and Mary (Herb) Duckworth of rural Fredonia. Gary attended Fredonia High School, was active in FFA and 4-H, and graduated with the Class of 1959. After graduating, Gary attended Wichita Tech School, where he learned the mechanical ins and out of tractors, farm equipment and much more. Gary served in the United States Army from 1963-1965 where he was awarded the Good Conduct medal and Sharpshooter medal. After returning home, Gary continued the legacy and tradition of caring for the family farm. He was very active in the community as a community-township trustee, coop board member, and a lifelong member of the Rural Fire Department. Gary was a trusted neighbor, friend to many, and a loved brother, uncle and great-uncle. He will be significantly missed by those that loved him and everyone in the community.
Gary is survived by his sisters; Kay (Rod) England of Tazwell, Tennessee, Shirley (Dee) Tindle of Rural Fredonia and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, TA and Mary Duckworth; brothers, Donald (infant), T.A. Duckworth Jr., Glen Duckworth; and his sister, Joyce Smith.
Graveside Services will be held, Saturday, February 18th, at 10 a.m. at Farmington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Avenue of Flags, and may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N 7th, Fredonia, Kansas, 66736.
