Gary Howard Hockett, 45, a resident of Hepler, Kansas, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at St. Luke"s Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born October 19, 1965 in Iola, Kansas, the son of Larry and Evelyn (Shook) Hockett. Gary was employed as a truck driver for Kunshek Chat and Coal, Inc. in Pittsburg, Kansas. On June 20, 1998 in Toronto, Kansas, Gary married Pamela McCann. She survives at their home. Together, Gary and Pam were actively involved in and members of the American Legion Riders, Sons of the American Legion, Patriot Guard Riders, Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), and Harley Owners Group (HOG) in Joplin. Leonardwood, MO Anthony Hockett of Hepler, KS Three sisters: Tammy Hambric of Hepler, KS Teresa Barg of Severy, KS Sarina Lambing of Augusta, KS One grandson: Mark Davidson Jr. of Walnut, KS The family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2011, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with the funeral service schedule to begin at 7:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home with Mike Bright officiating. A memorial has been established in Gary"s name with the Chanute Veterans Memorial and contributions may be sent to the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
