Francis J. Seiwert

Francis J. Seiwert, 86, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born March 14, 1924 in St. Marks, Kansas, the son of Edward and Mary (Betzen) Seiwert. On May 1, 1946 in Colwich, Kansas, he was joined in marriage to Catherine Mannebach. On May 2, 1946, the Seiwert"s moved to the family farm, north of Fredonia. Francis was a lifelong farmer and also was employed by General Portland Cement Company for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Seiwert survives at their home. Francis was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the local Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of National Farmer"s Organization and the Picker"s and Fiddler"s. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Catherine, include: Three daughters: Judy and Raymond Puckett of Fredonia, KS Joyce and Darrell Garner of Fredonia, KS JoAnn and Bill Jones of Fredonia, KS One son: John and Julie Seiwert of Fredonia, KS Two sisters: Margaret Gegen of Wichita, KS Regina Klausmeyer of Wichita, KS Two brothers: Clem Seiwert of Goddard, KS Leo Seiwert of Winfield, KS 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchild He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Seiwert; one brother, Eddie Seiwert; and one great grandson, Dedrik Rodriguez. A rosary will be said at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Church with funeral mass to follow at 2:00 P.M. with Father Stephen Thapwa and Father Charles Seiwert officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fredonia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established in Francis" name with the Fredonia Flag Fund, the Sacred Heart Church and the Meals on Wheels Program, and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.
