FLORENCE MARIE PAYNE Florence M. Payne, 79, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Andover Medical Center in Andover, Kansas. Florence Marie Payne was born December 16, 1936 in rural Neosho, County on the way to the Chanute Hospital. She was the daughter of Milton Shivley and Emma Hazel (Kelly) Shivley. She grew up in the Benedict area and graduated from Benedict High School. On December 2, 1955 in Yates Center, Kansas she was united in marriage to Carl Wilford Payne and he preceded her in death February 18, 2007. She was a devoted farmer"s wife and homemaker. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers, landscaping and animals. In the year 2005 she was awarded the Most Prestigious Tree Award in Wilson County. She was a loyal member of the Fredonia Methodist Church, Fredonia Senior Citizens, Meals on Wheels, 4-H leader and Sprouts. Survivors include son, Roger Payne of Buffalo, Kansas, daughter, Cindy Durham of Buffalo, Kansas, brother, Harland Shivley of Richmond, Kansas, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and grandchild, Goldie Lynn Payne. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 8, 2016 at Timmons Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Timmons Funeral Home. Interment will follow services in Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Wilson County.
