Everett E. Morris, 87, a lifelong resident of Wilson and Greenwood Counties, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. He was born July 25, 1925 in Climax, Kansas, the son of Edward L. and Grace (Larcom) Morris. Everett was employed by General Portland Cement/Lafarge, Inc. for many years, retiring in 1981. He was also a full-time farmer and rancher, the lifestyle he loved and from which he never retired. On March 8, 1945 in Fredonia, Everett was united in marriage to Helen Marie Culbertson. They celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage last March. Helen survives a their home. Everett was a very faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fredonia and he truly enjoyed presenting sermons through the years. He served as a county commissioner in Wilson County for 6 years and was a member of Lions Club. Everett loved Ford vehicles, fishing, hunting coons, his truck garden, and driving his four-wheeler up and down 15th Street, whether it was legal or not. In addition to his wife, Helen, Everett is survived by: His son: Dr. Terry Morris and his wife Judy of Fredonia, KS His daughter: Peggy Ogle and her husband Dennis of Fredonia, KS One sister: Velda White and her husband Larry of Fredonia, KS Seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren Everett's parents; brothers, Leo Morris and David Morris; and sisters, Oletha Kirkpatrick, Ruth Herde, May Mackey and Florence Bergen, preceded him in death. A memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Wolk of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Private inurnment will take place in the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Everett's name with the Seventh Day Adventist Church and can be sent to or left at Timmons Funeral Home.
