Evelyn Doris Clark, 93, of El Dorado, Kansas formerly of Fredonia passed away on Saturday November 7, 2020 at her home.
Evelyn was born to Carl Lawrence Wall and Doris P. (Richardson) Wall, January 6, 1927, in Chetopa Township, Wilson County Kansas. She graduated from Fredonia High School.
She was united in marriage to Clarence E. Clark, on May 22, 1946 in Independence, Kansas and he preceded her in death.
Evelyn loved to dance, travel, write poetry and draw cartoons about her life. Through these cartoons and poems her family has forever captured her personality and gift of humor to pass through the generations. She was a hardworking farmers wife who focused on the best in life even while milking the cows, working in the hayfield and growing a huge garden. This positive outlook on life and strong work ethic was something she took pride in passing along to her daughters and grandkids. Evelyn had amazing skill with needle and thread. She sewed most of her family’s clothes throughout the years to include wedding dresses, prom dresses, quilts and matching outfits for all the grandkids to wear; many of the memorable creations are stowed in keepsake chests, with photos of the family in her creations still brought out for display during family gatherings. Her celery salad will forever be missed as none of us have been able to replicate her recipe the way she could make it.
Through the years she was a housewife and secretary who balanced working on the farm, and in Fredonia at the General Portland Cement Plant and John Settle Insurance Agency, which she retired from in 1980.
She is survived by her children: Connie (Gene) Moore of Cheney, Kansas, Rhonda Clark (Jim Hayward) of Independence, Kansas, Catherine (Cecil) Taylor of Cedar City, Utah, Susan (Don) Jantz of Abilene, Kansas, sister-in-law Berdene Wall of Iola, Kansas, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 13, 2020 at Fredonia City Cemetery.
Services under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.
