Evelyn Christine Jeffers

Evelyn Christine Jeffers, 81, a resident of Fredonia, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born April 7, 1926 in Coyville, Kansas, the son of Maurice and Christine (Nelson) Hise. She was a teacher in various Wilson County Schools. On February 21, 1947, in Fredonia, she married Carl Robert "Bob" Jeffers. He preceded her in death October 9, 2003. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia, the Leaders Class, and the Christian Women"s Fellowship, as well as serving as a kindergarten Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a 61 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Evelyn"s survivors include: One Son - Michael and Elizabeth Jeffers of Fredonia, KS One Daughter - Beverly and Robert Durham of Emporia, KS One Half-Sister - Maurine Burns of Fredonia, KS Two Half-Brothers - William Hise of Fredonia, KS Dwight Hise of Topeka, KS 3 Grandchildren 7 Great Grandchildren Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 24, 2007, at the Farmington Cemetery, north of Fredonia, with Rev. Steve Brodbeck of the First Christian Church officiating. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Thursday, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., with the family receiving friends 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Visitation will also be held on Friday, 9:00 A.M.-Noon. A memorial has been established in her name with the First Christian Church Sunday School program and may be left with the funeral home.
