Edna B. Farmer

Edna B. Farmer, 74, a longtime resident of Altoona, Kansas, formerly of Augusta and Neodesha, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas. She was born February 10, 1936, in rural Valley Center, Kansas, the daughter of Edmond Pete and Clara Louise (Valdois) Louia. On June 1, 1955 in Peabody, Kansas, she married Charles Edward Farmer. He preceded her in death October 10, 2006. Edna was a bus driver for the Altoona Midway School District for many years, retiring in 1992. She was known throughout the area as a wonderful cook in a variety of restaurants, including the Farmer"s 75 Caf" that she and Charles owned and operated for several years. Most recently, Edna was cooking in the kitchens at Gran Villa/Vintage Park in Fredonia and Neodesha. She was affectionately known as the "Pie Lady." She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altoona and served on the Altoona Cemetery Avenue of Flags board. Edna"s survivors include: Three sons: William Farmer Kenneth Farmer Robert Farmer all of Altoona, KS Her sister: Velma Moore of Altoona, KS Her brother: Robert Louia of Altoona, KS Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Charles "Chuck" Farmer; one grandson, Mathew Farmer; one brother, Fred Louia; and one sister, Pauline Windholtz. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Morris of the First Baptist Church in Altoona officiating. Burial will take place in the Altoona Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Timmons Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M.
