Earl, “David” McCluskey, 90, lifetime resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away, Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Morningstar Care Home of Fredonia.
David was born February 22, 1930 in Fredonia, Kansas, to Tony and Sarah (Reay) McCluskey. He attended school in Fredonia, graduating from Fredonia High School in 1948. David joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was among those that helped build the Fall Fiver Dam.
David was united in marriage to Clara Walling on January 25, 1964 in Seminole, Oklahoma, she survives at the home.
After his discharge from the service, David worked for Boeing. David worked as a mail clerk and mail carrier for many years, until his retirement, at the Fredonia Post Office. David also spent his spare time farming the land and raising cattle.
David was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion, Senior Citizens, Camping Club, Lifetime member of National Rifle Association and Fredonia Arts Council. He enjoyed staying busy, having even built his own home. David also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bee keeping and fruit and nut tree grafting.
In addition to his wife, Clara, David is survived by his sister, Peggy Miller, Claremore, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Mary Jane Cox and Carol Borders.
Celebration of Life Services will be held, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736. Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time, February 6, 2021 at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or Fredonia Regional Hospital and may be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
