Dwane Kirk Johnson, fondly known as "Beaumont", passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at Fredonia Regional Hospital in Fredonia, Kansas.
He was born in Severy, Kansas, on November 23, 1936 the son of Donald Johnson and Marion (Cordon) Johnson. Dwane K. Johnson served in the Korean War with the United States Army before being honorably discharged.
Dwane had a fulfilling career, starting at the Herald Newspaper and later becoming a printer operator for the Wilson County Citizen, where he dedicated 47 years of his life.
Aside from his professional achievements, Dwane had a passion for journalism, graduating from Fredonia High School in 1954 and furthering his education at Pittsburg State University, earning a bachelor's degree in journalism.
In his leisure time, Dwane enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - indulging in a good cold beer, playing and coaching baseball, contributing to the rodeo scene, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Jaycees and past member of the Methodist Church.
Dwane was preceded in death by his parents Donald Johnson and Marion (Cordon) Johnson, brothers Seth, Donald, William, Gene, and Cordon Johnson, sister Marion Snyder, as well as nephews Robert Johnson, Donald Johnson, William Johnson, Curtis Snyder, and niece Gena Kimzey.
He is survived by his best friend of 48 years, Elizabeth Rimel, along with her children: Phil Rimel (Fredonia, Kansas), Lisa Loar (Iron Mountain, Michigan), Danny Rimel (Pueblo, Colorado). He also leaves behind nieces and nephews: Seth Johnson (Elk City Kansas), Rita Wartina (Rogue River Oregon), Cordon Snyder (Stagecoach Nevada), Shandra Coe (Garden Valley California), Chris Snyder (Garden Valley California), as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation to celebrate Dwane's life will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Wickham Family Funeral Home in Fredonia. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M on Saturday March 16, 2024, at Fredonia City Cemetery. Dwane's legacy of dedication to his work and love for his friends and family will always be cherished. May he rest in peace.
