Doris N. Streets, 97, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Altoona, Kansas died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born April 10, 1916 in rural Neodesha, Kansas, the daughter of Leon and Blanch (Haines) Busby. Doris was a graduate of Neodesha High School. On September 2, 1936 at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Independence, Kansas, Doris was united in marriage to Reed A. Streets. They made their home in Altoona. Reed preceded her in death on August 21, 1988. Doris was an active member of the Altoona United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and played the organ and the piano. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the LOL Club in Altoona. Doris" survivors include: Sons: Richard Reed "Dick" Streets of Slidell, LA Kenneth Lowell Streets of Fredonia, KS 5 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her parents, Leon and Blanch Busby; one brother, Lowell Leon Busby; and one sister, Thelma Fern Henderson also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 25, 2013 at Altoona United Methodist Church with Pastor Jose Miranda officiating. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon, 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends. A memorial has been established in Doris" name with the Altoona United Methodist Church Music Fund and contributions can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home.
