Donald W. Sponseller, 68, of Neodesha, Kansas passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Neodesha Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neodesha, Kansas.
Donald Wayne Sponseller was born August 12, 1948 in Neodesha, Kansas the son of Melvin Sponseller and Mildred (York) Sponseller. He attended schools in Altoona, Kansas and graduated from Altoona High School in 1967.
After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged March 13, 1972.
On March 31, 1985 in Altoona, Kansas he was united in marriage to Kathy Smith and they were later divorced.
Donald worked when he was younger at a machine shop in Wichita, Kansas. He later worked construction in the area for many years.
Donald loved shooting guns, coin collecting, fishing, hunting and tractor pulling. He was proud of his military service and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #3018 in Fredonia.
Survivors include daughter, Cassandra Campbell and husband Wayne of Cherryvale, Kansas, two grandchildren, Hailey and Christopher Campbell.
Memorial Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Altoona Cemetery under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home of Fredonia. Military rites will be conducted by the McConnell AFB Honor Guard.
