Donald Wayne Pope

Donald W. Pope, age 87, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Donald Wayne Pope was born February 1, 1938, in Independence, Kansas the son of Ernest Pope and Nora (Pennington) Pope. He grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1956. He served with United states Army National Guard from 1959 until honorably discharged in 1963

Don was united in marriage to Kay Savage and to this union 3 children were born Kathy, Dawn, Theron, and infant twins Becky & Eugene. They later divorced. After his divorce Don was married numerous times until he found his longtime companion Jeanne Housel and she preceded him in death.

Don lived a long adventurous life, from working in the oilfields in Kansas to the North shores of Alaska as a Roughneck. He later worked for the Katy Railroad for 25 years and for 10 years managed a ranch in South Texas raising prized show cattle.

He enjoyed going for motorcycle rides, fishing, drawing and playing golf.

Survivors include his children, Kathy Kelley of Independence, Kansas, Dawn Surber and her husband John of Belleville, Kansas, Theron Pope and his wife Tess of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Ben Kelley, Cody Robertson, John Pope, Jay Surber, great grandchildren, Camryn Robertson, Nonie Pope, Michael Robertson, Emma Robertson, Riley Robertson and Wylie Joe Pope.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Nora Pope, brother William Pope, infant twins, Becky and Eugene Pope and great granddaughter, Nora Belle Robertson.

Cremation has taken place under the guidance and personal care of Wickham Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 24, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas with Randy Beeman, officiating.
