Don Valdon Frye

Don Valdon Frye, 72, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at his daughter"s home in Carthage, Missouri. He was born June 29, 1933 in Squires, Missouri, the son of Clarence P. and Rena Bell (Hardcastle) Fry. He was a graduate of Fredonia High School and served in the United States Air Force 1951-1953. He retired in 1998 after 40 years of employment as a roofer. On August 24, 1965 in St. Robert, Missouri, he married Niki Killoren. She survives at their home. He enjoyed playing pool and fishing. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Niki, include Five daughters, Kay Coleman of Albuquerque, NM; Donelle Frye of Fredonia, KS; Gerry Short of Independence, KS; Menda Harper of Coolidge, AZ; Joyce Frye of Carthage, MO; One son, Kirk Strikland of Littleton, CO; One brother, Dane Frye of Davenport, IA; Four sisters, Violet Adams of Kansas City, MO; Geraldine Matney of Fredonia, KS; Mozelle Allen of Salina, KS; Janice Cox of Osage City, KS; 19 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Reginald Frye, Gale Frye, Jack Fry and Norman Fry. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 23, 2006, at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Monday, 9:00 A.M.-12:30 P.M. A memorial has been established in his name with the American Cancer Society and may be sent to the funeral home.
