Diana Sue Steanson, was born May 14,1944, in Horton, Kansas to Charles Perry Knight and Twila Marie Knight. She died peacefully in her home on July 31, 2021, surrounded by her devoted husband, Lee, children and grandchildren.
Sue taught Junior High Science in Neodesha for seventeen years before she retired in 2008. She loved geology, astronomy, nature, the outdoors and anything involving her family. A born adventurer, Sue and Lee liked to visit National Parks, going camping and four-wheeling, as well as traveling to many different countries around the globe.
Her parents Charles and Twila Knight preceded her in death.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband, Lee Steanson of the home, brother, Donald Knight of New Mexico, sister, Jane Wolf of Topeka, Kansas, children, Brigheta and Mark Webster of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Andrew Steanson of Charleston, South Carolina, Amy and Ted Bender of Whitewater, Kansas, James and Kim Steanson of Nashville, Tennessee, Troy and Lara Derksen of Corinth, Texas, Kari and Garrett Truskett of Sycamore, Kansas and 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild expected in December.
In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory with a good deed or donations to either Camp Chippewa or Neodesha Public School Science program. They may be left at Bank of Commerce, Neodesha, Kansas or left at or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
Sue’s family looks forward to sharing memories and gathering to celebrate a life well lived and loved, 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, 802 Indiana Street, Neodesha, Kansas.
There will be a sharing time at 1:00 PM with a short memorial beginning at 2:00 PM.
