Delbert V. Harris

Delbert V. Harris, 74, of rural Fall River, Kansas passed away early Sunday morning, March 18, 2018 at Fredonia Regional Hospital.
Delbert Vern Harris was born July 27, 1943 in Glendale, Arizona the son of Marvin Harris and Lena Mae (Arnold) Harris. He grew up and attended schools in Glendale, Arizona.
On April 18, 1964 in Heilbronn, Germany he was united in marriage to Helga Feil and she survives at the home.
Delbert served with the United States Army for 20 years retiring and honorably discharged after many years of service in 1981.
After retirement from the Army he worked on the family farm in Ulysses, Kansas. He moved to the Fredonia area and later worked for Midwest Minerals retiring in 2007.
Delbert enjoyed miniature trains, old tractors and electronic gadgets. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Helga of the home, daughter, Meike Young of Cherryvale, Kansas, son, Roy Harris of Hutchinson, Kansas, brothers, Eugene Harris of Alamosa, Colorado, Carl Harris of Mesa, Arizona, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Lucienne “Pooh” Harris, bothers, Virgil Harris, Charles Harris, Blenn Harris and sister Arvella.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held later in Ulysses, Kansas.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Blind Veteran Association (BVA) or St. Jude’s and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
