Deborah Kay Conner

Deborah Kay Conner, 57, a resident of Fredonia, formerly of Oxford and Winfield, Kansas, died Monday, September 26, 2011, at her home following an extensive battle with cancer. She was born February 28, 1954, in Wellington, Kansas, the daughter of Don and Louise (Riggs) Sawyer. On November 5, 1970, in Winfield, Debbie married Jim Conner. Jim survives at their home in Fredonia. Together they owned and operated Conner Construction, previously in the Winfield area, and also after their move to Fredonia. Debbie worked in the food service department for Fredonia USD 484. Also, Debbie very much enjoyed working with her family as a chimney sweep, a trade that she learned from her father. Debbie was a very active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah"s Witnesses in Fredonia. She was a volunteer bible educator in six states throughout the past 40 years. She was well-known for her sweet disposition and beautiful smile. Debbie played the keyboard and loved music. She was wonderful in the kitchen and known for her pies. Most importantly, she was an awesome wife, mother, and Mimi. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Jim, include: Three sons and daughters-in-law: Shelby and Jante Conner of Fredonia, KS Dustin and Nichole Conner of Fredonia, KS Luke Conner of Fredonia, Kansas Two sisters and brothers-in-law: Brenda and Bob Hengen of Ponca City, OK Ladonna and Jim Reed of Ponca City, OK Two grandchildren: Olivia and Sawyer Conner of Fredonia, KS Her mother-in-law: Lillian Conner of Neodesha, KS Her parents and son, Heath Conner, preceded her in death. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Timmons Funeral Home with Rick Ollenborger of Winfield officiating. Memorials have been established in Debbie"s name with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah"s Witnesses Fredonia congregation and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home.
