David Robert Myers, 62, a lifelong resident of Altoona, died Sunday, December 25, 2005, at his home. He was born July 28, 1943 in Altoona, the youngest of eight children born to Oliver Custer and Alma Gladys (Humphrey) Myers. He was a graduate of Altoona High School. In 2003, he retired from Southwestern Bell Company where he had been an installer and repairman for 37 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia. His survivors include: Four sons, Anthony Myers of Turon, KS; David Myers II of Kansas City, MO, Matthew Myers of Altoona, KS and Jacody Helton of Overland Park, KS; Two daughters: Jessica Martin of Altoona, KS and Jocie Baker of Parsons, KS; One brother, Paul W. Myers of Altoona, KS; Three sisters: Lucile Carter of Altoona, KS; Elizabeth Darbe of Little Rock, AR and Margaret SharpeWake Village, TX; Four grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Custer Eugene and Jacob George; and one sister, Drucilla Myers Goltry. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 29, 2005, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Steve Brodbeck officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2005, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., with the family receiving friends, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in his name with the American Lung Association and may be sent to the funeral home.
