David Lee Skaggs

David Lee Skaggs, 70 of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away, Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Fredonia Regional Hospital.

David was born on November 14, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas to Herbert Allen and Ruth Elouise (Harrington) Skaggs. He attended Valley Center High School graduating in 1967.

David joined the Airforce in 1967. He was an Aircraft Welder with the Kansas Air National Guard until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1999, having served 30 years, 8 months and 5 days.

David was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Fredonia. He enjoyed ministering to others, welding, wood working, cutting and splitting firewood and visiting with “The Jury” at Doane’s Furniture Store. He will be remembered for his missionary work at Campers on Mission.

He is survived by his children; David Skaggs and wife Rachel, Mansfield, Missouri, Tammy Coleman and husband (Kenneth), Wichita, Kansas, and William Skaggs, Augusta, Kansas, sisiters; Pat Pompa, Wichita, Kansas, Bonnie Donham, Augusta, and Ruth Hurtado, Conway, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, half sister, Barbara Guimond, half brother Richard, sister, Kay McDowell, and brother Ronald Skaggs.

Celebration of Life will be 10:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church, 240 N. 19th Street, Fredonia, Kansas. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas. Burial will be at Latham Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Campers on Mission and may be mailed or left at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
