David E. Crites

David E. Crites, 82, of Fredonia passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
David Eldon Crites was born November 25, 1934 at Argonia, Kansas the son of Franklin W. Crites and Evelyn (Little) Crites. When he was 7 years old Neva M. McCoy became his step mother and was raised by Franklin and Neva. The Crites family moved to Benedict area in 1947 and David graduated from Benedict High School in 1952.
He enlisted with the United States Army in 1955 part of the Early Warning serving 13 months in Thule, Greenland.
On October 14, 1956 in Benedict he was united in marriage to Emma Faye Loomis and she survives at the home.
David worked as an electrician for many years and owned and operated “The Light House” appliance store in Fredonia.
He enjoyed cutting firewood, woodworking, playing the banjo and anything electrical he could fix.
David was member of the Fredonia First United Methodist Church and was the first President of the Optimist Club in Fredonia.
Survivors include his wife, Emma of the home, sons, Rusty Crites and his wife Cindy of Fredonia, Kansas, Brian Crites and his wife Barbaralin of Iola, Kansas, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Nancy Lebeda and Ora Mae “Terri” Shuman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
Cremation has taken place with Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside services held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Fredonia City Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Wilson County Historical Society and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
