Darrell Lee Mallow, 78, born on April 26, 1946, in Independence, Kansas, passed away on February 5, 2025, at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas. 

Darrell devoted a significant part of his life to his career as a truck driver, working for Arrow Trucking and Fredonia Transit. He was known for his dedication and skill behind the wheel. In addition to driving, Darrell served four years in the United States Navy as a mechanic on the USS Hornet aircraft carrier.

A graduate of Labette County High School in Altamont, Kansas, class of 1964, He was not only a hardworking individual but also someone who valued relaxation and leisure. His hobbies included reading, playing games on his Kindle, and engaging in scroll saw woodworking. Darrell also enjoyed camping, where he found peace and joy.

Darrell married Dorothy Mitchell on July 1, 1972, in Cherryvale, Kansas. Their union brought together a loving family that includes sons Kevin McGrew and Jackie McGrew Jr. (Sally), along with a granddaughter, Kelsey Ellis (Jordan), and a great-granddaughter, Lindsy Ellis. The warmth and love within his family were of utmost importance to him, and he took great pride in their accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mallow, who continues to reside in Cherryvale, Kansas, and his two sons, as well as his siblings, which include sisters Stella Blanchard (Charlie) and Debbie Jones (Virgil). He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Bertha (Nicholson) Mallow.

Darrell was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Independence, Kansas,

A memorial service for Darrell Lee Mallow will take place at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 14, 2025, at Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas.

Darrell's legacy will live on through the love of his family and friends, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
