Darlene Row, 96, of Neodesha, Kansas formerly of Coyville, Kansas and Fredonia, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Morningstar Care Homes in Neodesha.
Darlene Row was born October 21, 1921 in rural Fredonia, Kansas the daughter of Thomas Orville Morrow and Ida Pearl (Pippin) Morrow. She graduated from Fredonia High School in 1939.
On February 26, 1945 in Emporia, Kansas she was united in marriage to Norman Row and he preceded her in death January 15, 2004.
Darlene started working as waitress while she was in high school for her uncle at the Horseshoe Café. After a short break she went back to work for Lawrence Cox at his small café. Shortly she went to work for the Sanderson’s when they opened the New Mainliner and after a few years they built the Country House. She continued to work at the Country House for many years until she retired, working under several other managements. She was a familiar site in the early morning opening the café.
Darlene enjoyed going to farmer’s market, cooking, making pies, gardening and canning. She will be remembered for her love for her children and grandchildren.
She was member of the Bible Baptist Church.
Darlene lived in rural Fredonia/Coyville area for over 50 years. She lived with her daughter and son in law for 13 years in Fredonia before moving to Neodesha.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Spencer and her husband Douglas of Fredonia, Kansas, grandchildren, Terry Row, Jr. and his wife Kandy of Chanute, Kansas, Tyler Row and his wife Tracy of Fredonia, Kansas, Jeffry Spencer and his wife Sarah of Pembroke, Georgia, honorary grandchildren, Juan Bustelo of Argentina, Noemi Kiss of Germany, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Terry Row, Sr., infant daughters, Darla and Donna Row, sister, Bonnie Forbes, brothers, Lonnie, Harold, Boyd, and Roy Morrow, grandson, Joseph Spencer and great grandson, Austin Spencer.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Bible Baptist Church in Neodesha or the Farmer’s Market and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
